What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is an injectable that goes beyond the abilities of most injectable fillers. Instead of placing temporary volume under your skin with a gel-like consistency, Sculptra triggers the production of a fibrous protein called collagen. Collagen is a building block of your skin and tissues that keeps them firm and youthful. 

Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) is the key ingredient of Sculptra. It’s biocompatible, which means it won’t cause a harmful reaction in your skin. It simply stimulates collagen production before dissolving.

What should I expect during the Sculptra procedure?

Your provider uses tiny injections of Sculptra to minimize the procedure’s discomfort. After the injections, you may apply an ice pack for a few minutes at a time to alleviate any lingering discomfort. 

Most people are able to return to all of their normal activities immediately after their Sculptra injections. You must massage the treated areas for five minutes at a time, five times a day, for the first five days after treatment.
